Installing and Lifting an External Work Platform
-
Always lift using integral lifting points (marked or noted in the manual).
-
Use 4-leg chain slings connected to certified lifting lugs.
-
Confirm platform size and weight before lifting – capacity ranges up to 2 tonnes.
-
Attach taglines on both sides to control movement during positioning.
-
Ensure all safety pins, locking plates, and base ties are installed before access is granted.
-
Only lift and install under the direction of an Appointed Person and Lift Supervisor.
Safety Tips & Best Practices
-
Always lift platforms of matching size or type to ensure balanced loading.
-
Slings must be of sufficient length to maintain safe included angles (<90°).
-
Both slings must choke inside each end of the platform if sizes vary.
-
Clean off debris before lifting to avoid instability or hazards.
-
Protect slings from sharp edges and check the platform integrity beforehand.
-
All chains must remain attached until platform is fully installed and secured.
-
Jump testing must be carried out to confirm stability before use.
-
Lifting team must include a qualified Slinger/Signaller, and site must be cordoned off during installation.
