Lifting & Installation Procedure – Excavator Pouring Bucket

Pre-use checks

  • Inspect bucket body, brackets and pins for cracks, distortion or damage.

  • Confirm WLL is suitable for the task and machine.

  • Make sure all bolts and adjustment plates are tight and secure.

  • Set up the quick hitch

  • Select the correct size pins for the excavator.

  • Fit the front pin in the correct hole; adjust the rear pin to suit the hitch.

  • Set pins to maximum centres as per quick-hitch guidance.

  • Attach and check

  • Engage the quick hitch slowly and fully.

  • Ensure locking indicators show locked and retaining bolts are fitted.

  • Carry out a short test lift and tilt — do not use if movement or looseness is seen.

  • Filling

  • Position under the lorry chute with the bucket slightly tilted back.

  • Fill directly from the lorry — do not overfill.

  • Keep edges clean to avoid spillage when travelling.

  • Pouring

  • Track slowly to the pour area, keeping the bucket low.

  • Tilt the bucket to pour in a controlled manner.

  • Stop, re-position and continue as required — no scooping from the ground.

Safety Tips & Best Practices

General

  • Operators must be trained and authorised.

  • Follow the site lifting / pouring plan and manufacturer guidance.

  • Move slowly, avoid sudden stops and sharp turns.

  • Keep bucket as low as reasonably practicable when travelling.

  • Never attempt to scoop material from stockpiles.

  • Filling & pouring
